Anything but jazz!!

Something that I've often wondered about is this;

Are we becoming too analytical about music? Dissecting and analysing can often take the romance out of a song.

Jack Savoretti speaks candidly about his approach.

I remember reading, back in the late 60's, critical reviews of albums like, Jimi Hendricks, the Doors and Yes. My music teacher quoted from critiques centuries in the past.

I think with the introduction of people reacting to music on You Tube brought more voices to the fore. There is a balance, of course, does the person critiquing have knowledge of the subject - either the breaking down of the lyrical content, the musicality or the social references. A critique can point to things missed, reveal counterpoints and enhance the listening pleasure.

Jack makes an interesting subject for one of these Oxford Union debating sessions.
